Welcome to our school

Welcome to Shustoke C of E Primary School!

On this page you will find information which we think parents and children may find useful, especially if you are joining us for the first time.

Welcome from Michele Wall, Headteacher.

Welcome to Shustoke C. of E. Primary School. I hope that you find this website helpful  whether you are joining us for the first time, or as an existing member of our school community.

Our school’s philosophy is centred on the development of the whole child. We aim to enable all children to achieve success intellectually and personally so that they grow up to be happy, confident, responsible citizens of the future. Shustoke is a school that lives out its core values of respect, courtesy, honesty, caring, equality and forgiveness. These are modelled by adults and apparent in pupils’ behaviour and attitudes. … Leaders and governors ensure that the school’s shared values are at the forefront of everything that happens in the school.

Staff, parents and pupils understand the importance of this shared vision. It defines relationships throughout the school, between adults and pupils and between pupils.” (Ofsted) It was important to us that our shared values were recognised during our most recent Ofsted Inspection.

Our values, vision and school aims permeate all of the school’s work, as a result the school is a happy, purposeful environment with a clear moral purpose for education. We are proud to be a Church of England School and belong to the Diocese of Birmingham. Being a Church School provides an additional dimension to our life in school and is intrinsic in our philosophy and culture. We pride ourselves on our Christian family ethos - it is a distinctive characteristic of school life. Staff subscribe to, and model our values, and the children are rewarded for displaying those values.

At Shustoke, we want to foster pupil achievement and self-belief through the provision of a broad and enriched curriculum. We provide opportunities to develop individual talents and interests, as well as providing a firm foundation in basic skills, so that our children are able to respond positively to the opportunities and demands of a rapidly changing world. We aim to promote the physical, mental and emotional health of the whole school community, thereby enabling our children to make healthy choices and lead a healthy lifestyle.

We endeavour to provide an environment where everyone feels welcome, secure and valued – meeting the needs and aspirations of the children, their families and the wider community through involvement of the whole school community in providing the highest quality education, within the context of Christian belief and practice.

Just as we encourage our children to improve on their previous best, we continually strive to further develop as professionals for the benefit of the children. However we realise that success can only be achieved in partnership with parents and the wider community; therefore we encourage you to talk to us about any matters relating to your child at school.

Parents are always welcome in school and the important contribution they make to school life is appreciated, as we believe that truly successful education comes from working together
