Joseph - Part two
Joseph had been sold by his brothers and taken to Egypt. Even though life was hard, Joseph trusted God. He worked for a man named Potiphar and did such a good job that Potiphar put him in charge of his whole house!
But one day, Joseph was blamed for something he didn’t do and was sent to prison. Was God still with Joseph? Yes! Even in prison, Joseph helped people and stayed faithful.
One night, two men in prison had strange dreams. God helped Joseph explain what the dreams meant. Later, Pharaoh—the king of Egypt—had two very puzzling dreams. No one could explain them, but Joseph could! He told Pharaoh that the dreams meant there would be seven good years with lots of food, then seven years of famine.
Pharaoh was amazed and made Joseph the second most important man in Egypt! Joseph stored food during the good years so everyone would have enough during the famine.
One day, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt to buy food. They didn’t recognise Joseph, but Joseph remembered them. Instead of being angry, Joseph forgave them and said, “God sent me here to save lives.” Joseph’s family moved to Egypt, and they were together again.
Dear God,
Thank You for loving us and always being with us, just like You were with Joseph.
Help us to trust You when things are hard and to forgive others like Joseph forgave his brothers.
Thank You for turning bad things into good.
We love You and want to follow Your ways every day.
Amen.
