Lent Eco Challenge
Lent is a time for reflection, when we think carefully about how we live and choose to give something up to help us become more thoughtful and caring. Our school Worship Council, School Parliament and Eco Council got together to discuss and reflect on how we can improve our school and home environments.
Our carbon footprint matters because it has a powerful impact on our planet and God’s creation.
As a group we came up with some simple ideas we could do during Lent and going forward.
Light Switch Champions
• Turn lights off when the class leaves

• Check that lights aren’t on unnecessarily
• Encourage use of natural light where possible
Unplug at Lunchtime
Encourage classes to:
• Turn off screens before going to lunch
• Unplug chargers not in use
• Switch off classroom lights before leaving the classroom
In our homes we thought about:
Electricity-Free Challenges
Doing activities that need no energy:
• Drawing
• Lego
• Chalk art
• Outdoor games
Shorter Showers!
Set a 4 minute challenge using a timer. This would help because heating water uses lots of energy.
We would like you to create a poster with as many ways to cut our energy use as possible so that we can gather all the different ideas.
