Music
Music is a vibrant and joyful part of life at Shustoke. Our bespoke curriculum is designed to nurture a love of music, build confidence as performers and develop the technical and creative skills children need to flourish as musicians. From Early Year to Year 6, pupils sing, play instruments, improvise, compose, listen and appreciate through rich, purposeful, activity-led learning.
Children explore a wide range of genres, instruments and musical traditions, from folk and classical to Bhangra, reggae and film music. They learn progressively – developing their understanding of pitch, rhythm, dynamics, structure and texture – while also gaining hands-on experience with a range of musical instruments.
Pupils will share their learning with audiences across the school and village, taking part in Harvest Festivals, Nativity, Carol Services, Easter celebrations and end of year productions. Through these experiences, children grow as musicians and expressive individuals who understand the power of music.
