We have developed our own Numeracy Passport system in school for the children to practise their mental, oral skills and celebrating each step achieved. Each step of the Numeracy Passport has been developed to link with the mental/oral objectives from the Mathematics National Curriculum.
Each objective in the passport is assessed separately before a final test involving a mixture of questions from the whole passport. The UK passport is not a test, but is completed practically using number cards, with an adult.
Children are set homework regularly towards their numeracy passport which gives them plenty of opportunities to advance through the stages. If they complete a test, they will be given an achievement card by their class teacher. Certificates are given out in assembly at the end of the half term to those children who have completed all of the objectives in stage they are working on.
