Our Worship Council 

The Worship Council aims to help plan, lead and improve collective worship across the whole school. Members are given leadership opportunities and work closely with Reverend Mark. This enables pupils to develop organisational skills, confidence and independence.

The Worship Council is also given time to reflect, gather views and share ideas from their peers in order to help shape and improve collective worship for the whole school community.

At the beginning of the academic year, pupils are elected by their class to become members of the Worship Council, ensuring pupil voice and representation across the school.

 As a church school, we want to help everyone to feel successful, happy,  included, nurtured and enriched whilst learning about and worshipping God.

Worship Council meet together to do some of the following things: 

• Reflect upon worship and how it can be even better.
• Help plan collective worship sessions.
• Help monitor and evaluate the different worship sessions and the school environment
• Learn more about worship e.g. why worship is important and the different ways to worship
• Contribute ideas for prayers.
• Plan and Lead the Space Makers worship once a half-term

Space Makers:

• Is accessible to pupils of all faiths and world views, five contemplative practices help schools to embrace some of the ancient wisdom of the Christian tradition and, in doing so, assist children to navigate the world around them. Climate anxiety and the vast increase in screen time and exposure to social media seem to be causes of deteriorating mental health in young people.

  The ancient contemplative traditions of Christianity, like its secular cousin ‘mindfulness’, have a lot to offer at this time. Space Makers brings five contemplative practices into the life of school.

Some of our aims for the coming year are for us to:

• Develop pupil participation in collective worship
• Lead and evaluate worship consistently
• Explore what is meant by spirituality
• Continue to develop relationships with the charity Kids Club Kampala and explore ways to support them.
