November
Week Beginning 24th November
Reverend Mark led Collective worship. Today he talked to us about ‘Advent’ A time when Christians all around the world are waiting and preparing themselves to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
He explained that there are at least two types of waiting. The first type is when you know exactly when the waiting will come to an end. Advent is that type of waiting. Everyone knows the date of Christmas Day. The other type of waiting is when you don’t know when something will happen. Like trying to catch a ball when you do not know when it is going to be thrown. Christians know about this second type of waiting as well. During Advent Christians are not only waiting to celebrate the birth of Jesus 2000 years ago but they are also waiting for him to come again.
When Jesus lived, he taught in Israel 2000 years ago, he promised his friends that he would come back, but he didn’t say when. In fact, he said he didn’t know when, but he did tell his followers to be ready for his return.
Reverend Mark explained that Christians deal with this waiting, preparing themselves and getting on with doing what Jesus wanted them to do. As well as telling people about Jesus and showing people how much he loves them, they also pray.
Dear God,
Waiting when you don’t know when the waiting will end can be very difficult.
Help us to be patients and make good use of the time when we have to wait.
Maranatha.
Maranatha is Aramaic and it means ‘Come, Lord Jesus’.
Week Beginning 3rd November 2025
Reverend Mark led collective worship and talked to us about our value of Respect.
He talked about how we treat each other really matters. Wherever we are — at school, at home, or out in the world.
What does respect look like?
Using kind words, even when we’re upset
Listening when someone else is speaking
Saying “please,” “thank you,” and “sorry” when needed
Treating everyone fairly, no matter how different they are
Why is it important?
Because everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and heard. When we show respect, we help build a community where people trust each other and feel proud to belong.
Dear God,
Thank you for all the people around us — our friends, our families, our teachers. Help us to speak kindly, listen carefully, and treat everyone with love. Teach us to respect others, even when they are different from us. Let our words be gentle and our actions be fair. May we always remember that everyone is special and deserves kindness. Amen.
