Summer Two

This half term we are looking at the value of Hope.

Some examples of how the children can show this value are:

1. Encouraging Others

Children can offer hopeful, uplifting words to friends who feel sad, worried, or left out.
Examples:

  • “You can do it!”
  • “Things will get better.”
  • “I’ll help you.”

2. Setting Positive Goals

Hope is forward-looking. Children show hope when they:

  • Keep trying with reading, maths, or sports, even when it’s hard.
  • Set a small goal and work towards it.
  • Celebrate progress, not just the end result.

3. Trusting God in Prayer

Children can express hope by:

  • Praying for help or guidance.
  • Praying for others who are struggling or in need.
  • Thanking God for good things and believing He listens.

4. Being Kind During Difficult Times

Hope often shines brightest when things are tough. Children show hope when they:

  • Stay patient in challenging situations.
  • Offer help instead of complaining.
  • Choose positive behaviour even when others don’t.

5. Looking After God’s World

Hope for the future includes caring for creation:

  • Recycling or reducing waste.
  • Looking after the school grounds.
  • Being gentle with nature and animals.

6. Showing Perseverance

Perseverance is an expression of hope — believing that effort makes a difference.
Children show hope by:

  • Not giving up easily.
  • Trying again after mistakes.
  • Working hard during class tasks.

7. Sharing Stories of Hope

Children can connect with Bible stories that demonstrate hope, such as:

  • Noah trusting God during the flood.
  • Daniel in the lions’ den.
  • The shepherd searching for the lost sheep.
  • Jesus’ resurrection giving hope to all.

They can retell these stories through art, writing, role-play, or discussion.

8. Spreading Positivity

Hope is contagious. Children can:

  • Share good news with others.
  • Celebrate classmates’ achievements.
  • Start the day with a positive outlook.
